Stage 1 of the Nepean Redevelopment included a major upgrade and expansion of the Nepean Hospital and community-based health services in the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District (this includes the Hawkesbury, Lithgow, Penrith and Blue Mountains local government areas).

The services included in the Nepean Redevelopment Stage 1 are:

• A new 14-storey clinical services block (hospital tower)
• A new and expanded Emergency Department
• More than 12 new operating theatres
• 18 birthing suites
• A new Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
• More than 200 overnight beds
• A new helipad
• New community health services
• A new multi-storey car park

The multi-storey car park is on the corner of Barber Avenue and Parker Street.

The scope of the redevelopment was determined by the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District clinical services plan and extensive consultation with key representatives within NSW Health.

The NSW Government is also delivering Stage 2 of the Nepean Redevelopment with construction currently underway on the Nepean Hospital campus.

Stage 2 will integrate with Stage 1, and will include the expansion and upgrade of essential clinical services including:

• an Intensive Care Unit
• Medical Imaging services and Nuclear Medicine
• an in-centre Renal Dialysis Unit
• cardiology services
• a new Paediatric Unit
• clinical support services including Pharmacy
• staff education and training facilities
• community health facilities
• a new front of house and reception area.

Yes - the Stage 2 tower has been designed to seamlessly connect to the Stage 1 tower (Building A) to enhance the patient flow and experience.

The clinical services listed in the scope were all identified as key priorities by the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District as part of the Clinical Services Plan.
