About this project

Construction on the 14-storey hospital tower has reached its highest point, with a topping-out ceremony held on Thursday 29 October 2020 to celebrate this exciting milestone.

The new Stage 1 tower, delivered under the $576 million Stage 1 Nepean Redevelopment, is one of the tallest hospital buildings in Australia – topping out at more than 100 metres – with majestic views stretching to the Sydney CBD across to the Blue Mountains.

The Stage 1 tower includes an expanded Emergency Department, 18 birthing suites, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, more than 16 operating theatres and more than 200 additional beds in contemporary and bright in-patient units.

Construction of Stage 1 has continued to make steady progress since the first concrete slab was poured in September 2019.

Construction of Stage 1 is expected to be complete in late 2021 and will open in 2022 following an operational commissioning phase.
