Our approach

Why we ask for feedback

It's important to us that healthcare services meet the needs of the people who use them. Working together as partners to see things from each other's point of view is a vital part of designing and building new healthcare facilities. As we plan upgrades and expansions to the healthcare district, we invite community input into elements of the design. This input is then considered as part of the process into the final design.

Stage 1

Extensive consultation has been completed with staff and consumers to identify the clinical needs  and blueprint of the Stage 1 tower as part of the planning stage.

In November and December 2018 the project team sought feedback from the community on the look and feel of public spaces, such as waiting areas, outside areas and public entrances in the new Stage 1 hospital tower. During the consultation period we spoke to 1,031 community members (562 people via online survey and 469 people via face-to-face consultation).

Feedback received on public spaces in the Stage 1 tower from the consultation period will be considered as part of the final design. Comments made around the day-to-day operation of the hopsital and health services will be shared with the relevant departments for consideration.

In December 2020 registration opened for consumers to participate in Stage 2. Planning and design for Stage 2 will continue in 2021, providing many opportunities for patients, visitors and carers to have a say and make a difference,
