The Nepean Cancer Care Centre is undergoing an expansion and upgrade of services at as part of Stage 1 of the redevelopment.
Construction at the cancer centre started in mid-2018 which includes a doubling of chemotherapy chairs from 15 to 30, a third radiotherapy bunker and new clinic rooms. Additional funding has also been allocated to the Nepean Blue Mountains Local Health District to equipe the new bunker with a linear accelerator for radiation treatment.
On 30 January 2019, a traditional Darug smoking ceremony was held ahead of the opening of the new clinic rooms at the Nepean Cancer Centre. Construction on the new radiation therapy bunker and additional chemotherapy treatment spaces is scheduled for completion in mid-2019.
Extensive consultation has been undertaken with health staff, specialists and community members to determine the best designs and layout for the cancer care centre's upgrade. For more information please click here.
