On 15 January 2019, the Somerset Street Car Park was permanently closed to progress construction of the new hospital tower as part of the Nepean Redevelopment Stage 1. The North Block access road and drop off zone has also been closed as part of construction. The new multi-storey car park accessible via Parker Street will be open to patients, carers and visitors from mid-2019.
To minimise disruption to patients, visitors and staff, we’ve introduced the following temporary parking changes:
These alternative parking options will be available until the new multi-storey car park opens in mid-2019.
The alternative temporary parking options that have been put in place means that, despite closing the Somerset Street car park, there will be no reduction in parking at Nepean Hospital and no reduction in disabled car spaces. When the new multi-storey car park opens in mid-2019, it will provide more than 600 car spaces and additional 14 disabled car spaces.
The new multi-storey car park will open for patients, carers and visitors in mid-2019. For more information closer to the opening, visit www.nepeanredevelopment.health.nsw.gov.au.
The car park will be available for patients, carers and visitors from mid-2019. Staff will have access from mid-September 2019.
There will be an addition of more than 600 car spaces on campus including 14 disabled spaces, pram and senior parking for patients, visitors and staff to the Nepean Hospital campus.
Visitors will be able to access to the new multi-storey car park heading southbound only on Parker Street or by entering the main hospital entrance on the Derby Street roundabout and proceed past the Emergency Department and continue on the access road under West Block.
The new multi-storey car park is a boom-gated facility and has security lighting and video surveillance, and help points providing a safe parking option. The new car park’s link-way bridge provides an easy way to access the hospital at Level 2 North Block.
A link-way pedestrian bridge provides direct access to the Hospital at Level 2 North Block. Visitors will be able to access the link-way bridge between 5am to 8pm daily, for access after hours please use the intercom. It is recommended outside these hours that visitors access the main building via the after-hours entrance near the Emergency Department.
All car parking across the Nepean Hospital campus will have the same fees and concessions. These are consistent with NSW Health car parking policies. For information on fees, and to see if you are eligible for patient or visitor concessions, visit bit.ly/nepean-parking-pricing. For staff, information on parking fees and access, is available on the NBMLHD intranet.
Before the new car park opens we've created a few temporary car park options to minimise the impact of construction on campus.
